BCHS features a dedicated Sexual and Reproductive Health Hub. This specialist team is dedicated to supporting people of all genders and sexual orientations.

The hub provides a range of confidential services, such as:

  • Contraception services and advice, including IUDs
  • Men’s sexual health (ie, erectile disfunction) 
  • Women’s sexual health
  • Cervical screenings
  • Perimenopause / menopause support
  • Free condoms – also available in the waiting room
  • Free sanitary products – also available in the waiting room
  • Free meningococcal C and hepatitis vaccines
  • Anti-HIV medication PrEP
  • Tests for all blood borne viruses and sexually transmittable infections
  • Testing, support and advice for both planned and unplanned pregnancies
  • Pregnancy options, including termination

Bulk Billing web tileWe are a fully bulk billing clinic for all Medicare card holders for eligible services.

No referrals are needed. 

Fees may apply for non-eligible services.

A fee of $35 will be charged if you fail to attend your appointment or cancel less than two hours before your appointment.

We offer in person and telehealth appointments.

Our standard appointment is 30 minutes. If you require an extended (45 minute) appointment, please advise our Client Services.

We endeavour to accommodate your preference for doctor and time. Please contact Client Services on 5406 1200 and select option 2 for Central to book an appointment.

Please ensure you have received a confirmation message before coming to the appointment.

Telehealth

Telehealth appointments are available if you cannot attend in person and you have seen one of our doctors in person in the last 12 months. If appropriate we offer both video and telephone telehealth appointments.

Walk-ins

We are an appointment-only clinic. Walk-ins will be triaged by our clinical team.

Home visits

Home visits are at the discretion of our general practitioners. Please discuss with your regular doctor.

All requests for prescriptions and referrals require an appointment.

Please make an appointment for your test results, unless your GP has stated they will phone you with the results. We will send you a reminder for certain tests such as pap smears and immunisations.

We send text reminders for reviews or immunisations which may be due. Please tell your doctor if you do not wish to receive them.

Free parking is available at the Hopetoun Street entrance.

Disabled access is via the main entrance of the building. The waiting room and consulting rooms have wheelchair and scooter access.

Interpreter services are free of charge. Our client services team can help with this. Please advise what language the interpreter needs to speak when booking.

A health record is a collection of information about your health and healthcare. It may include information such as your medical history, diagnoses, medications, allergies, test results, referrals and treatment provided.

Informed consent is required before sending your health record information to a third party or to you. Refer to our Client Information booklet for further information on consent, privacy, protection of your personal information and your rights and responsibilities.

Your medical records are confidential. Our policy is to maintain security of your personal health information management at all times.

We take complaints seriously and aim to resolve them quickly and fairly.

If you remain dissatisfied with our response, you may contact the Health Complaints Commissioner (HCC). The HCC responds to complaints about health services and the handling of health information in Victoria. Their service is free, confidential and impartial. To lodge a complaint with the HCC:

Client services will pass on your message and let you know the outcome.

As a teaching clinic, students may attend your consultation for observation and to assist the doctor and nurse. Please let client services or your doctor know if you prefer the students not to attend your consultation.
