Ellyse said she would encourage other younger and more diverse people to join her at the table.
“Board positions provide a unique platform to make a meaningful impact in your community and contribute to important decisions that shape the organisation’s direction,” she said.
“By bringing in fresh perspectives and new ideas, younger and more diverse individuals can play a crucial role in driving positive change and innovation.”
Ellyse works fulltime, and is also involved with the Bendigo Football Netball League board and the La Trobe University academic board, and said the rewards far outweighed the commitment.
“The flexibility and understanding among board members make it feasible for people with busy schedules to actively participate and make valuable contributions,” she said.
“Serving on a board can also enhance your skills, expand your network and provide personal fulfilment. It’s a chance to be part of something greater and connect with like-minded individuals who share a common goal of community betterment.”
Interested people with experience in financial management, clinical government, or lived experience and understanding of the issues facing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples or people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities are particularly welcome to apply.
