Week 4 – Give
Give is the 5 ways to Wellbeing challenge this week.
It’s about helping those around us.
Doing good deeds is important for our wellbeing, giving us a sense of purpose.
Examples of how you can pay it forward are:
Pay for a free coffee to someone you don’t know.
Give a friend or family member a compliment.
Write a letter to an elderly friend or neighbour.
Try to find a way to help those around you each day this week.
You can challenge someone by tagging them in the comments or complete it yourself and don’t forget to tag us or use the hashtag #5wayschallenge
Week 3 – Connect
The challenge theme for Week 3 of our challenge is … Connect!
It’s all about connecting with those around us. Catch up with a friend or co-worker on a walk or connect over video chat. Checking on your friends and family is important. What will you do to Connect this week?
Now use social media to share a picture or video of you taking on this week’s challenge, tag us and use #5WaysChallenge and you will go into the draw to win a weekly gift voucher prize. Everyone who takes on all five challenges goes into the draw to win a grand prize at the end of the #5WaysChallenge
Don’t forget to challenge your friends, family, workmates or classmates to get involved by tagging them in each of the 5 Ways themes!
The #5WaysChallenge is all about getting you to look after your mental health which has never been more important! Week 2 – Be Active
Being active is an important part of looking after our wellbeing.
Our Week 2 challenge is to get your body moving and get walking.
We want you to reach approximately 6000 to 8000 steps a day.
You can complete all your steps at once, going for a walk around your neighbourhood or complete short 10-minute walks over the entire day.
It’s up to you!
You can track your walking through your apple or android phone using apps such as STRAVA or Fitbit.
Tip: It’s important to start off at your own pace, do what you can to be active.
Now, take on the challenge and enter our competition by sharing a picture of yourself out walking. Don’t forget to challenge someone else by tagging them in the comments or complete it yourself and don’t forget to tag us and use the hashtag #5wayschallenge
We have weekly prize draws and a grand prize draw for those who complete all five challenges through the competition period.
Week 1 – Take Notice
The #5WaysChallenge theme for Week 1 is Take Notice. Complete five minutes of mindfulness each day. Read a book, listen to meditation or a podcast, colour or paint or just ask yourself ‘How am I feeling right now?’ Anything that gives your mind a freshen up and a rest from normal day to day activity.
Here’s a breathing technique you can do at home, work or school:
1. Sit or lay down
2. Inhale a deep breath
3. Hold
4. Exhale
5. Repeat for 10 breaths
6. Focus on your breathing and try to Take Notice of how your body feels before and after.
There’s some great apps you can use on your phone to help such as Smiling Minds which provides meditation for all ages.
The #5WaysChallenge is all about getting you to look after your mental health which has never been more important!
