Last updated: June 22, 2020

Bendigo Community Health Services has reviewed all services and programs given the current Coronavirus threat with the safety of our consumers and staff as the highest priority.

The Coronavirus threat means we must change the way we deliver some services.

We are now using Telehealth for appointments so our doctors and other health professionals can consult with you by phone or video link from the safety and comfort of your home. They will then decide if you need a face-to-face consult which will be done at our Eaglehawk site (3 Seymoure Street).

Don’t worry if your face-to-face appointment at BCHS gets changed to a Telehealth appointment - just follow the instructions below and it’s as simple as answering your phone or clicking on the email link we send you for video appointments!

All new appointments will be Telehealth first.

What you must do before a Telehealth appointment with our staff member:

You don’t need to do anything for a phone appointment. Just answer our call at the time of your appointment.

A Telehealth appointment by video

We are using an online platform called healthdirect for Telehealth appointments by video.

You will need access to the internet for your healthdirect appointment which can be done on a PC computer, laptop, iPad or mobile phone.

If you will be using a laptop or desktop computer, healthdirect works in most internet browsers like Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer. Just make sure your laptop or desktop computer has a webcam, microphone and speakers so our staff member can see and talk with you.

Please call our Client Sevices team on 5406 1200 if you have issues with your Telehealth appointment.

What you must do on the day of your Telehealth appointment:

Think about the things you want to talk about with our GP or health professional or any questions you might have and write them down so you don’t forget during the appointment.

Choose a quiet, private and well-lit room for your appointment so you don’t get disturbed and can see and hear everything.

Telehealth appointment via video:

STEP 1: When it’s time for your Telehealth appointment, just open the link in the email we sent to you when the booking was made. This is the link you will need to access the online waiting room if you haven’t got it handy: https://bit.ly/BCHSTelehealth

STEP 2: Enter the online waiting room and wait for our GP or health professional to come and collect you. Please be patient if our staff member is running behind schedule. But please call our Client Services staff on 5406 1200 if you have been waiting longer than 20 minutes for your Telehealth appointment.

STEP 3: It’s time to start your appointment. Please make sure you have thought about the things you want to talk to our staff member about and any questions you might have. It’s a good idea to write these down before the appointment so you don’t forget. When your appointment has finished our staff member will hang up. That’s it. Done!

Below is what you should see as you move through the steps to enter the online waiting room where our GP or health professional will collect you for the appointment.
